Is tethered internet active on your Alltel line? Sometimes companies disable tethering so end users don't run up $15k bills.
Doesn't Alltel have a Data Support line you could call? |

@windstream.net | reply to opus74 Apparently that is not the problem either. I really think it has something to do with the Alltel service as this is the second phone we've tried and we had the issue on our desktop using Vista as well as the laptop running on XP. |

@windstream.net | reply to opus74 I honestly don't know if I know how to do that but I'll try to figure it out. Thanks! |

Might help... |

@alltel.net | reply to opus74 No we are just using the phone as a modem connected thru a usb. No software used. |

Are you using any software, or just as a modem? |

@alltel.net | reply to opus74 But the problem is that it is dormant while I'm opening pages. Just get the "page cannot be displayed" message. More often than not I have to reload pages. It doesn't go out of dormancy when I try to open a new page. Thanks |

| reply to Hughesanon The V3 says "dormant" when there is no web activity. In other words if you open a page it will say "packet data" during the download....while you are reading the page, after a period of time, it will say "dormant". Once you go on to another page or whatever, it will say "packet data" again.
It's not really an error, just how the V3 and V9 display. -- Lordy, I have loved some ladies and I have loved Jim Beam and they both tried to kill me in 1973. |

| Can someone please tell me why my Motorola V3m phone that is used as our modem is constantly going dorment in the middle of EVERYTHING? We were using it on a desktop with Vista and Alltel kept saying it was a Vista issue. We are now using it on a brand new Inspiron 1520 laptop with XP OS and it still does it. We have a great signal here. I don't know anything about this stuff so any help in terms that I can understand would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
