The notebook market is getting very competitive now, so there are plenty of good deals out there, and you might quibble on a feature here and there, one way or the other, but it is a nice notebook, with a good feature set...it sounds like you've done your homework as far as the features, form-factor, and planned usage, so I suspect that you will be well-pleased with this.

I do recommend that you try to pay it off while it is within the interest-free time frame, as it is true that if you have to pay it off over time, the total real cost becomes a good bit less attractive.

although, unless gaming is an intended use (which is doubtful considering the OP states that mobility is the major concern..) the 8400GS should be adequate imho.

at that price, i would like to see a faster processor, and DDR2 667 seems like an odd choice. why not 800? and... is the 3gb matched for dual-channel?

although, as was mentioned previously, the inclusion of MS Office is a price-factor that i am sure is adding a reasonable sum to the total cost.
