| [Temps] Q6600 Higher Temps
Argh man thought I was doing good with my temps, but with the 85 degree weather today and with the higher ambient temps my q6600 temps went up Running my q6600 G0 at 3.2ghz 1.28v and when i start up prime95 it now hits 63 , 63 , 58 , 58. Should I lower the overclock? Seems like such high temps to me since many people hit 3.4-3.6 with similar temperatures. We do have central air which wont kick on for a little while, but I am concerned about the life of the processor with these temps. Starting to think about reseating my heatsink, but not sure if that will even help. Oh Idle its at 40, 37, 33, 37... |

| Guess I am being paranoid then? I always thought 50 as being hot...
Yea typo above on the oc voltage. My vid is the same as yours glen 1.2375 which from what I have been reading is pretty low. I wish I could run at 1.275 since at that temp it ran a good 6 degrees lower, but it failed prime 8 hours after testing. |

| said by Gooiool :ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Temperature 71. °C (159.8 °F) Yea I have seen that one before too it does make me feel soemewhat better, but one thing though about that temp are they referring to a single core temperature or the actual overall chip temperature? If its chip temperature then i am absolutely not worried since it only hits like 53ish. I guess either way without running prime I really only see it hit in the low 50's. |

| I believe that is the overall chip temperature. About core temps I wouldn't that concerned about them as most say it's the overall you need to look at . For that matter this is my Stock Dell AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ hardware monitor {and room temp is 65f today } Temperature sensor 0 54°C (129°F) [0x67] (core #0) Temperature sensor 1 62°C (143°F) [0x6F] (core #1) I know AMD's run hotter and this things been at these temps since day one , almost a year so far . -- Team DiscoveryJoin us help fight cancer. | reply to Ryan Here is a great link (which I got from reading this forum originally) on temperatures in Intel processors including a procedure for calibrating the sensor.
One problem as I see it is the wildly differing readings from various temperature reading software making one persons 50 degrees the same as another persons 75 degrees.
After reading that link I went out and got a Thermalright ultima-90 cooler and a PWM fan and that dropped my temps by 15 degrees C and is quieter than the stock HSF. My Q6600 G0 is still only at 3Ghz because I am cautious but it may be pushed a little more in the future. |

| reply to Ryan WOW i was looking at the b3 temps the entire time. Just found their g0 temps listed
Q6x00: Tcase Max 71c, Stepping G0
-Tcase/Tjunction- --70--/--75--75--75--75-- Hot --65--/--70--70--70--70-- Warm --60--/--65--65--65--65-- Safe --25--/--30--30--30--30-- Cool
Makes me feel a hell of a lot better since i am between safe and cool at full load with prime. Guess I am being paranoid! |

| reply to Ryan I see you people are using a V core of 1.2375 for your Q6600's and overclocking it to 3.2. My gigabyte ep35 ds3p board uses 1.3 v core as "normal" voltage for the stock speed of 2.4. Well anyway, some overclocking forums that I have read recommended 1.4 vcore. When I did that my temps at even 2.7(9x300) went into the high 50's under load with the stock Intel heatsink. Well I tried the 1.2375 vcore that you are using and bumped the cpu up to 3.0(9x333) and it is running just fine. Temps at idle are mid to high 30's and never hitting 50 under load playing Crysis and CS. I'm happy with it at 3.0 especially with stock cooling. May fiddle with RAM timings a bit now to really get it tweaked. Thanks for posting the low vcore stats -- "It's a nice day if you wake up in Disneyland" |
