| Field Day In 2 Months, June 28/29. Who has Plans???
Getting down to the final planning stages soon, who has Plans, what Clubs are you working with ??
OK, it's a competition, gotta keep everything secret from everyone else.
Who plans to be On-Air, and what can you reveal about your Secret Plans to win the tops in your Operating Category.
If I decide to operate from home, you might get to work "KA3SGM, 1 DELTA, EPA", but I might just be somewhere else... -- "Lithium is no longer available on credit" |

| I usually run the satellite station for my club, but my work schedule will have me out-of-town that weekend. First time in 12 years I've missed Field Day! -- One man's Magic is another man's Engineering. |

| reply to KA3SGM Our club is going to operate, but we are running it like a real emergency event. We won't know where we are operating until 11am on Saturday. Our Emergency Management Coordinator will notify one of our members at that time as to where we will be operating from.
This way we can test our entire emergency procedure from activation to being up and on the air. I'm looking forward to it. We'll operate out of our county Incident Command trailer and try out some various "portable" HF antennas. |

| reply to KA3SGM Radio Amateurs of Northern Vermont (RANV) will be running W1NVT as catagory 2A again this year, with W1PU as our GOTA station.
In 2007, we were second in the 2A catagory with 29 participants logging 3,968 QSO for a 12,368 score.
Of course, I'm scheduled to be at work at my "real job" for 12 hours each day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday that week. But I'll probably still work a few hours of 40/75M phone during the wee hours on Sunday morning before I go to work.

| reply to KA3SGM VE3MIS (my club) will be up and running this year as either 11A or 12A.
We generally set up shop in a city park or conservation area. Wire antennas for 80 and 160; beams and/or verticals for the rest. Everything running off traditional generators.
One year we almost secured some fuel cells which would've been uber cool (and a LOT quieter) but the deal fell through at the last minute. -- "It's all coming down!!" - Mike Holmes |

Always happy to work our neighbors to the North in the GTA, and across the rest of Canada.
Running 12A with the elaborate antennas you describe, I'm pretty sure that we will run across each other.
I'll have to keep a listen out for your clubs call letters, probably on 40m in the early afternoon Saturday, or 75m or even 160m after sunset.

| Will do. Our 40 sideband is run by guys with significant contesting experience so I'm sure you'll run across them.
I'm signed up for 20 sideband. We've been using a Force12 Sigma 5 for the past couple of years with good results. Lightweight, easy setup and take down. I guess that's within with spirit of FD. -- "It's all coming down!!" - Mike Holmes |

| said by tenbase :ZUK, I've seen some OLD computers in shacks, but that one (5140?) just about takes the cake Yeah, that is an old IBM PC Convertible. But if you are logging with NA contesting software, what more do you need? It is field proven, puts out very little RF interference, and just plain works. This one doesn't even have a hard drive -- just two floppies. Just need to remember to type "SAVELOG" every once in awhile, to have a backup on the second floppy diskette.
The only problem we had was last year, when we had more QSOs than NA is able to log. A terrible problem to have, isn't it? -- New to Forum Life? Click here and learn. |

| reply to KA3SGM This year, I'll be operating with the Bellbrook (ohio) Amateur Radio Club. We set up in a city park at a very low elevation, but always have fun. Saturday dinner is always a treat, with potluck variety. We at least have a roof over our heads, although no walls to the picnic structure. -- Microwave and RF Components at www.ohiomicrowave.com |

| It always works out for me, as I have a Honda 3500w portable generator to loan to the cause.
I am still uncommitted, as my Wife has to schedule work over the weekend around my FD support.
Fortunately, the local FD site is only 2 miles from my house.
Other than that, my kids are all looking forward to help out the cause, as they are really interested in the Hobby.
My kids have already been operating HT's under my GMRS license, so they are learning about radio, on-air etiquette and Station Identification. -- "Lithium is no longer available on credit" |

| reply to Splitpair play around on google a bit and you should be able to come up with some contacts in local clubs. Get their field day plans, find a couple local clubs and go visit them. I would not say the first site you visit will match your interests. But if you look around you will most likely find a group that matches your interests.
Since I am now part of the district ARES leadership it sounds like I will be making the rounds on field day. I am a bit excited to see what each group is doing. However, I would rather be on the radio for my club though for 24 hours. |

I will be listening and responding accordingly.
