FiOS 6416 STB and Samsung LN-S4695D HDMI issue

Verizon says it's a Samsung issue and Samsung says it's a Verizon issue. Does anyone have a fix to make my HDMI cable work with the Verizon QIP 6416-2 STB and a Samsung LN-S4695D 1080p HD TV?

Try Samsung and HDMI - I know there were several threads about his issue.

Here is one -»FiOS VOD and HD Samsung HDMI Issue....
Here's another - »Issues with Samsung and Fios TV

Search is your friend

Thanks, lots of info, but no solution other than going with HD component cables...

I'm getting a Samsung LCD this weekend. Both Samsung and Verizon told me the same thing - use component cables. They both also said that there is no difference in picture quality. Verizon said that the same issue exists with Sony Bravia too.

I got Bravia (KDL46W3000) last week and I have no issues. I use HDMI cables.

Check for a firmware update at the support area for your Samsung model. I just updated my 5689s from 1011 to 1019.
Be sure to read & follow the upgrade instructions, you may want to record your user settings for brightness, color, hue, contrast.

Yeah, I tried that route with Samsung as well. They advised me there were no firmware updates available for my model... sigh....

For those keeping up with this saga, or who even care, there is NO compatability issue with my Samsung and FiOS. It was a bad HDMI port on the STB. I had a FiOS tech come out and swap the STB and everything works just fine, HDMI cable and all!! So, for those having similar issues, don't aggravate yourself with multiple phone calls to Samsung and Verizon, just have a FiOS tech swap out your STB. That will probably resolve the issue.

Thanks for everyone's help!!!

Just got my Samsung LN46A550 connected earlier today by Geek Squad. Everything works perfectly with HDMI. I'm a happy guy right now.

I got so fed up with this, I sent a letter to:

Verizon Communications
Attn: Shaygan Kheradpir, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer
540 Broad Street,
Newark, NJ 07101

According to Verizon's public filings, Mr. Kheradpir is responsibile for quality control at Verizon and was instrumental in initally rolling out what we know as FIOS TV.

Prior to Verizon's February upgrade, the picture on my Samsung was perfect. Now I have a green vertical line. Over three months have elapsed, and the problem has still not been resolved. On my last phone call to Verizon, the representative was courteous. He acknowledged that there was a software problem, but amazingly did not have a target date as to when the problem would be corrected. I think the disappointment of Samsung owners needs to be escalated to Verizon's senior management. Furthermore, it also needs to widely disseminated to future Samsung owners and FIOS TV subscribers that Verizon has a flawed product. Hopefully the general knowledge of that fact by the public will motivate both companies to work toward fixing this situation.

Set your HDMI output to 720p in the hidden menu as opposed to 1080i (if set such way) and the green line will go away (presuming it is the vertical green line on the right hand side of the screen). Known issue and apparently a fix is in the works according to previous posts.
