| [Modem] Netopia 3347 DSL Modem Config..
I'm trying to configure some static ip's in my Netopia 3347 modem. When I go to expert mode and click on configure there is no wan option. The only thing I see is connection, DHCP server, IP Passthrough, NAT and wireless.
Can someone tell me how I am suppose to configure this?? I'm trying to reach AT&T as I type this.
Thanks!!! |

| I found this:
The BellSouth Netopia 3347NWG-006, AT&T Southeast version Motorola Netopia 3347-02-1006 and maybe the other AT&T Southeast/BellSouth Motorolas/Netopias have the same DynDNS capability but it is hidden from the GUI and you have to set it up through the CLI.
Can anyone point me inthe direction on how to do this? |

| reply to brettatk The firmware in the netopia 3347 has been upgraded to have two different interfaces based on the email address that you enter. For bellsouth.net addresses, it is supposed to default to the business interface (that's the one with the LAN and WAN options in expert mode) 7.4.2r2. For all other addresses, @att.net, etc it defaults to the consumer interface, 7.4.2r3.
However, I've found that even when one is a business customer with a @bellsouth.net address entered, the Netopia 3347-02-1006 will still bring up the consumer interface which means you cannot properly configure the netopia for multiple static ips.
If you have a single static ip address, this is fine because no configuration is needed for that beyond the username and password, so if you are able to surf, you are good to go.
If you have multiple static ips with this new interface, it is unlikely you'll be able to configure them properly. You can still configure the ip range into the DHCP server and set the LAN IP of the netopia, but there is no feature that I've found with this interface that will allow to to expose the addresses, which is required to be able to remotely access devices configured with those static ips.
How many ip addresses do you have and what are you trying to do with them? |

| Whoops, got the firmware wrong. The whole consumer/business interface split started with 7.4.2rx and now the firmware is up to 7.6.1r6. When you look at the Netopia interface now is the model 3347NWG or 3347-02-1006?
I'm trying to figure out if the problems I ran into before was just a few defective 3347-02-1006s or if they've fixed the problem entirely. Over the last week, I've had at least 6 issues where a business customer was getting the consumer interface and couldn't do anything with their static ips. I'm crossing my fingers that either it was random and sending them a new one will fix it or that AT&T fixed the problem. |

| reply to brettatk The consumer interface for the 3347 is known as RBAN mode for this problem. You didn't do anything wrong, this happens when during installation when the attreg default is used to initiate the pppoe connection when installing the service for the 1st time. You have your UID/Pwd established now, that's why the new modem you rec'd has the correct firmware for business class.
This is an extreme headache for customers because even a hard reset will not correct it. There is a fix to "re-do" the 3347 for business class w/ correct firmware after this happens. It is done from a firmware conversion tool that is downloadable, however I'm not sure if the link is for internal use only, when I find out I'll be sure to post it.
Peace! |

| Unfortunately I do not know that answer and could not confirm my info regarding the tool accessibility for outside use as of yet.
What I do know is that a new r9 firmware update will be on the newer shipments of this unit which corrects this problem. I've yet to see the update here, but may already be on some. I don't see why however this can't acutally be done from the Netopia website itself, but may not be Fastaccess specific.
Will follow up asap. Peace! |

| The 3347's I have seen/used recently do indeed now have the r9 firmware installed, no RBAN problem.
Unfortunately I've been getting mixed answers regarding the conversion tool for the r6 issue, I will as of now have to leave it alone until I get a straight answer. As for now any issues w/ a 3347 running in RBAN mode will have to be corrected from the Netopia website itself, support contacts should be available there.
Peace! |
