[Notebooks] Dell E1505 Sata Drivers

Hi Folks,

A co-worker HD went out & she purchased another drive. When she tries to reinstall windows it pretty much tells her Windows couldn't detect the disk (the bios detects it). Since the drive is a SATA, I am figuring that windows needs the SATA drivers.

However if I goto the dell website, they are saying there are no drivers for this model of laptop.

Am I off in assuming it needs the drivers, & if so does anybody know what the chipset is or SATA drivers that would work?

Thanks

The drivers for the laptop can be found here: »support.dell.com/support/downloa···=&impid=

The SATA driver can be found on the website in - Chipset - Intel Driver.

Alternatively, check the BIOS and see if you can set the Sata drive to IDE Mode. Usually, this will allow MS Windows setup to recognize the drive and continue installing.

Thanks for the response. My co worker was able to get the drive to be recognized & got Windows installed. I just thought it was weird that even though the system had an SATA drive, that Dell's website for that system did not have any drivers.

Using Dell's XP reinstall disc I had no trouble having a new drive detected on a clean install... perhaps it was something else?
