FIOS TV Only

I am going to drop the internet portion and just keep the TV service. Where my ATR is now i want to put a cable modem. My question is can i relocate the ATR to one of the TV sets and just use a splitter to split the signal to 1 box and 1 to the ATR ?

I can't answer your question, but I'm curious - why would you return to Cable Internet after having FiOS?

What area? I know Comcast in our area claims 16 download "boost" but it's not all the time and I'm sure their 16 is just a number they picked to beat Vz's 15/2. Vz 15/2 is supposed to be upgraded to 20/5 at no add'l charge very soon. Cable is traditionally "shared" with your neighbors vs. FiOS' dedicated fiber to your home.

Define "very soon." Some of us have been told that we would be receiving a free upgrade from 15/2 -> 20/5 for almost two years now. Now I'm stuck waiting for 15/15 -> 20/20. Fat chance of seeing 50/20 here anytime soon.

16/2+PowerBoost in my neighborhood is surprisingly consistent, even at "peak" hours.

I still wouldn't switch internet service to Comcast, seeing as how I'd probably be disconnected fairly quickly from them for "excessive bandwidth abuse."

I don't think that it's a good idea to add another splitter to split your current coax run going to the STB. You'd be further reducing the signal by having multiple splitters. Don't you have a separate Comcast coax run feeding into your home from the outside that you can use exclusively for the cable modem?

I heard June for our area. But ... who knows for sure!

I had Comcast with Powerboost, and it peaked out at about 20mbit. The FIOS tech couldn't believe it when I showed him. But that 20mbit speed would last long enough to run the speed test and after that it would slow to about 8mbit. Therefore when downloading a large file, the first few megabytes would download at 20, but the rest would be at 8. And these were speeds during the day - at night they all slowed down. FIOS is always the same!

For an overloaded connection shared with my neighbors, where Comcrap forges reset packets to disconnect my sessions (including encrypted VPN to work) and can disconnect me anytime for exceeding an unpublished usage cap? NFW

I don't think VZ does "free upgrades" any more. 5/2 was the standard speed in my area when it first became available, then they bumped it up to 10/2. I was unable to get them to increase it one time when I asked. At that time I had internet only for $35, they would give me the 10/2 for $39.

Along comes the triple play, and I would have gotten the 10/2 as part of the bundle. An upgrade to 20/5 would cost $10 monthly more, but they gave me a billing discount for the term of my contract that essentially gave me 20/5 for the price of the 10/2.

I think the upgrades are only incentives now. They use them to lock you into a contract.

This sounded like more of an "elimination" of 15/2 - goint to 20/5 for all previous 15/2s

16/2 will turn into 56K when it's at a busy time. I pay $95 p/Month for 20/5 internet, TV and unlimited phone with VM.

Comcast has the same price, but less channels and lower speeds.
