[Notebooks] frequent Laptop hungup

I am wondering if anybody can help me. I have a HP ze4800 laptop with 640mb of ram, for 3 days it is hanging up frequently, everythin jams on the screen. sometimes it dont do anythig for a whole day and works fine. I have to press the power button to restartthe computer. all the fans are working fine. does anybody have any idea what's wrong ith this machine.

Not a lot of details to go on here. I tcould be that it is running hot and the CPU is throttling down, even though the fans are working fine. Do check the vents and make sure they aren't being blocked by "dust bunnies"...

Also, perhaps there are driver issues, or a recently installed/updated program...when this happens, is there any particular process that you are in when this occurs?

A possible fix, that you can always "un-do" if it isn't the culprit: Go do a Windows Restore, at a restore point just prior to when your notebook began acting up.

One other possibility: RAM. Perhaps one of your DDR modules is going bad, or, the contacts are simply a bit dirty...I would shut down the power, remove the battery, remove, and clean the contacts on your ram, and re-insert. Even better, if you have a different stick of ram to run in it's place to test it out.

As you may gather, these are completely different solutions, as what you describe might be from several causes.
