My 3G phone has EDGE. I'm guessing the 3G iPhone will be the same. So if you don't have 3G in your area and don't have an iPhone then it's still worth it. It will work as well as the current iPhone and you'll be ready when 3G is turned on in your area or you travel somewhere with 3G.
