Re: RE

Yes and what company SOLDERS a battery in? Better yet, what companies makes a product that is highly overpriced and then simply makes a simple update it to reprice it again? I mean give me a break that Apple couldn't have done an initial launch with 3G.... People like you are the flocks that line Steve Job's pockets. Too ignorant to think about things and too quick to blow your money on them due to the logo.

You are an idiot.

There are plenty of companies selling iPod batteries. The only ones that are soldered in are the Nano, Touch/Phone. The rest you can replace relatively easily. And there are plenty of places that will do it for you if you're not handy.

And I'd imagine there will be companies that will do this for you with the Touch/Phone shortly.

I'd never worry about the battery life - for every cell I've replaced batteries in - usually another month or 2 later I'm replacing it anyway so it's a no brainer.

I'd rather have the goodness of the iPhone vs the POS that is Win mobile or the orphaned thing that is Palm OS (I've got a Treo 650 now).

Nor does wasting 500 dollars only to blow another 500 a few months later on an upgrade that should have been included the first time around.. Can you say GULLIBLE and CHA CHING on APPLE'S part as all the people like you go and blow another 500 bucks for round 2.

GSM a minority, I really doubt that.

Wow, you really are on the "gimme something to hate" bandwagon. Someday you will learn. The quality of the iPhone make EVERY piece of junk plastic phones out there look like crap. Really, if you can't get past your need to feel part of something like the "i hate ________(insert company) products" club, you will miss out on a lot of great things in life. Oh, and you won't have to lie anymore either. And regardless what you hear on the internet... bashing something most people like really doesn't add to your coolness.

That's what I figured. However, you would have thought Apple would have made the phones dual band (HAH... I'm only kidding). This being the same Steve Jobs that makes IPODS with soldered batteries and charges the same 80 dollars to replace them. Apple merely makes junk and continues to upgrade it for all those gullible people willing to throw away their money. I might not be the most up to date person when it comes to technology, but I know a gimmick when I see one. Apple to me is one of those fad items best avoided.

Well here's what I wonder. Are the fools that wasted their money on this overpriced piece of garbage able to flash their firmware to support 3G or does the chip within the phone limit speeds? I know hardware has a lot to do with things, but so does software. I highly doubt the people that rushed out would be given this luxury even if it was available, though. Apple wants people to toss their phones and go buy new. Sadly, there are plenty of idiots out there that will do it, too. Yes, anyone that pays 500 for a proprietary phone, then 80 to replace the battery, etc is an idiot. One would be much better off buying a Nokia with 30 FPS video capture and high quality video, than buying the Iphone. Hell, my 400 dollar sprint phone can do most of the stuff the Iphone does and I have had it 3 years now. I can even change my own battery without HAVING to pay someone as its not soldered in.
You cant FLASH a device to support 3G , its hardware based. As a side note 3G has features which make it worth the upgrade. Voice and Data at the same time, and 3G speeds. Another thing is that once 3G is everywhere , GSM is going to become a minority. With UMTS becoming the norm, with LTE riding its coattails.
