[trouble] DSL in 703 494 (Occoquan CO) area problem?

I have a Fujitsu Speedport (original equipment) and see all three lights. Rebooted and Earthlink had me do the new connection thing...no joy. Earthlink account okay since I'm on their dialup now - is there a CO issue? Would Verizon take a look-see please? Been out since at least 0830 Thurs 24 April, but was working PM 23rd.

Thanks in advance,
Mike.

Mike, who is your ISP? Verizon or Earthlink?

Verizon landline and cell; Earthlink DSL = ISP. The only other prob I've ever had w/this arrangement was when Verizon switched COs some years (from Dale City to Occ in 2004, I think) ago...Verizon was quick on the fix then...and I have consistently had ~700 - ~800 KBPS speeds (tho I'm a little distance away)

Mike.

Then if you are having problems with your Earthlink DSL you should be posting in our Earthlink DSL Forum. I don't believe that Verizon will help you directly if your ISP is Earthlink. You would need to go through Earthlink for help. If you would like, I can move this over to Earthlink. Let me know.

I hear you...I have a ticket in to Earthlink from last nite no response yet today; last nite they said they've "escalated the issue to more senior technicians"...I don't necessarily have confidence they won't just say "it isn't us...must be your phone line". So was seeing if anyone else has this issue in my area.

I've also emailed Verizon, requesting they review the DSL setup in the Occoquan CO...

I guess if it shouldn't be here, you can move it...just trying all sources.

Thanks for the replies.
Mike.

I'm having the same problems too. I'm also in woodbridge, but i have a zyxel 600 modem. Pppoe seems to be failing, no problems w/ the lights on the modem. It just stopped working yesterday around noon or so. Verizon is my phone provider. Running ATM diagnostics on the modem shows the line is ok. Either the pppoe server is down or Verizon is having problems. I tried to call EL but gave up after 30 min of waiting.

Edit: I know my profile says radford, but i am visiting my parents till Tuesday.

I have now spoken to EL three times since Thurs PM - very nice, so far. As of this (SUN) morning, the chat line rep said my trouble ticket was referred to the telephone provider (mine is also Verizon, who operates my (poss our common) CO in Occoquan. Yeah I suspect it's some handshaking with EL's authentication/DNS server..."authentication problems in your area" was quickly mentioned Thursday evening by EL when they updated me. I don't know which number you used, but if you want to "join the club", you might want to try 888-829-8466 (EL Service) or 866-704-4371 (which I understand is their Tech number).

Good Luck, Mike.

The 866 telephone number you listed is not an Earthlink number.

I have not had DSL access since 4/24. I live in the Lorton area. I have 3 tickets opened with them (b/c everytime they ship a modem it closes the stupid ticket). Anyway, I also had a fujitsu modem and woke up on the 24th with no connectivity. Tech support finally deduced that it was a modem problem and b/c I was a "long time customer" they would ship me a modem for free (I just had to agree to a one year service contract and pay for shipping!). Meantime, on the 26th, Verizon came out and checked our phone lines and told us that we were switched to a new platform (per ELN as they are no longer supporting frame relay) and we needed a new modem. Armed with that, we called sales and they agreed to ship us a modem for free with no shipping or contract. The new modem arrived and surprise, surprise, it didn't work. I spent 4 days with tech support trying to convince them that it was not a modem problem. At one point a technician told us that we had to have a dedicated phone line for the modem to work and he guaranteed that would solve the problem (hardly). We were told that the modem was defective and we needed a new one (remember, however, this WAS the new one)and it could be at our home in 2-3 business days. I finally got to a "supervisor" and he agreed that he would ship me a new modem overnight and if this one didn't work that ELN would have to set me up as a brand new customer b/c there are configuration settings that would be made. When I asked why they couldn't be made now, he argued that Verizon said that they "couldn't capture the signal" and the modem was the problem (they would ship me the same EXACT modem that didn't work in the first place). Today, I got my new modem and surprise, surprise it doesn't work.

CAN WE ESCALATE THIS ISSUE TO THE MEDIA?????

Have you tested at the NID? Did you remove the Frame Relay Filters and use the ATM ADSL Filters in their place?

What Media? Sure you can call anyone that you prefer.
