| Re: -- Shivers --- Scary! The problem is mostly all mental... (barring wind and lightning strikes!) If it was 2 ft off the ground it would be easy... but at those heights.... many of us, myself included would have a very hard time mentally. When I was younger I didn't seem to worry about heights much, but more recently....
Last time I stood on top of a tall building and approached the railing/fence and looked out I got all weak feeling and almost shaky and had to really just take a moment.
Now imagine being EXPOSED in the tower like that. Uh, sheesh.... No thanks.
I guess like everything else you could train yourself to deal with it, but for me it would take probably a long, long, time before I felt comfortable enough to do it. -- "Regulatory capitalism is when companies invest in lawyers, lobbyists, and politicians, instead of plant, people, and customer service." - former FCC Chairman William Kennard (A real FCC Chairman, unlike the current Corporate Spokesperson in the job!)

Forget the fact that they must be somewhere around 150 ft above the observation deck. I'm sure that's nothing when you consider that they're, easily, 1300 ft from street level.

| Re: -- Shivers --- Scary! At least it is obvious that they are wearing a climbing harness and are securely attached to the tower.
You can see the ring and ropes to the right side of one of the climbers.

At least the repair guys are holding onto something; knowing how crazed my camera friends get when going for that perfect shot I'd bet dollars to donuts the photographer was simply holding onto his camera with his ass in the wind...

| | You gotta wonder, would it really have been all that difficult to design the light structure so that it could be serviced from inside the tower? | |

|
| | | | Re: -- Shivers --- Scary! I've never been there, but even if it's just a small steel pillar, could there not have been a ladder on the inside? Or a small elevator? Could the lights have been put on a swivel so that they could be rotated to face inside? Seems better than to make someone play Spiderman just to change a light bulb. -- What's certain about Darwinism is that it would take less time for (1) a single-celled organism to evolve into a human being through mutation and natural selection than for (2) Darwinists to admit they have no proof of (1) - Ann Coulter | |
