| [MN] How do the people that know, know?
I am just curious to know how the people that know certain information get their information, and can they help me in my quest to get a time table for new hd channels here in central mn. I am getting frustrated with the "we are in negotiations stage". Although I am really happy with their service up here, besides hd, I am about to switch, I just don't really want to. |

| reply to bogeypro I used to get my information because I was a cable commissioner. Now I get my information by reading press releases and SEC filings and occasionally talking to contacts I get when I was a cable commissioner. These contacts are not difficult to make in cities that run their cable franchise well. You don't need to be a cable commissioner. Just talk to the franchise administrator, any citizens who do cable oversight, even the government and public access people often know quite a bit about the current situation. Educational access tends to be a little more out of the loop since their money comes from elsewhere. These people, in turn, talk to cable VPs and franchise managers and similar cable execs. That's where they get their information. -- ISCABBS - the oldest and largest BBS on the Internet telnet://bbs.iscabbs.com Professional Geographer Geographic Information Science researcher |
