Now I get my information by reading press releases and SEC filings and occasionally talking to contacts I get when I was a cable commissioner.
These contacts are not difficult to make in cities that run their cable franchise well. You don't need to be a cable commissioner. Just talk to the franchise administrator, any citizens who do cable oversight, even the government and public access people often know quite a bit about the current situation. Educational access tends to be a little more out of the loop since their money comes from elsewhere.
These people, in turn, talk to cable VPs and franchise managers and similar cable execs. That's where they get their information.
