Re: [Modem] Netopia 3347 DSL Modem Config..

Unfortunately I do not know that answer and could not confirm my info regarding the tool accessibility for outside use as of yet.

What I do know is that a new r9 firmware update will be on the newer shipments of this unit which corrects this problem. I've yet to see the update here, but may already be on some. I don't see why however this can't acutally be done from the Netopia website itself, but may not be Fastaccess specific.

Will follow up asap. Peace!

The 3347's I have seen/used recently do indeed now have the r9 firmware installed, no RBAN problem.

Unfortunately I've been getting mixed answers regarding the conversion tool for the r6 issue, I will as of now have to leave it alone until I get a straight answer. As for now any issues w/ a 3347 running in RBAN mode will have to be corrected from the Netopia website itself, support contacts should be available there.

Peace!

New firmware is available on the Netopia support site for the AT&T Southeast version Netopia 3347-02-1006 Wireless Gateway.

This firmware is not to be applied to the BellSouth version 3347NWG-006.

It is on the right under 3347-02-1006 Downloads.

Latest Firmware: 7.6.1 R9 (nwta761r9.bin)

Also on the right you will see 3347-02-1006 Documentation and under this will be a link to the 3300 ADSL Gateway Reference Guide. This link is wrong and is to an old reference guide for version 7.5 firmware that never came on this model. The shipping firmware for the 3347-02-1006 was 7.6.1 r6 as best as I can remember.

For the correct Reference Guide for firmware version 7.6.1 go to the link below and scroll down to the User's Reference Guides section and click the link next to 3300 Series User Guide, version 7.6.1.

The Firmware Wizard Conversion Utility is not located on the Netopia website as far as I can tell.

I don't know if the Firmware Wizard Conversion Utility is needed to fix a borked 3347-02-1006. The updated firmware alone may be enough. I don't have one of these so I just don't know about this.

By all rights this firmware and the Firmware Wizard Conversion Utility should have been posted at the official fastaccess.drivers.bellsouth.net website.

The fastaccess.drivers.bellsouth.net website does not appear to have been updated for sometime and it seems to be missing some updates. The Netopia 3347NWG-006 has had available a firmware update 7.6.1 r6 nta761r6.bin for sometime now and it is not located on this site.

I think they have just forgotten about this website.

The 7.6.1 r6 firmware update for the BellSouth version 3347NWG-006 is available on the Netopia support website.

The 3300 ADSL Gateway Reference Guide for the 3347NWG-006 is also old and is for the 7.6 firmware version.

The updated guide is the same one as for the 3347-02-1006.

Canezoid, I saw this below while digging around in my 2210-02-1006.

(Netopia-2000, rev 1), HwID 0x2, Model 2210-02
running version 7.7.3r7_attse, SKU: BellSouth-RBAN

What does RBAN mean?

The Regional Broadband Aggregation Network (“RBAN”) product was a BellSouth product developed to allow ISPs to offer ISP service arangements across the BellSouth network.

This product allows end users to have a choice of ISPs and for ISPs unaffiliated with BellSouth, the RBOC, access they need to reach BellSouth customers.

I think the only ISP that used this product other then bellsouth.net was Earthlink. An example would be to use user@bellsouth.net or user@earthlink.net at the login prompt on the MODEM.
