Gotta hand it to Israel.... they don't screw around

You know, when that story broke about how Israeli warplanes had flown into Syria, and dropped bombs on SOMETHING, and perhaps even shot down some Syrian jets, and then Syria was like (Whistle, Whistle) Nothing to see here.... Move along.... (Whistle, Whistle)

And the mainstream media barely covered on it, and where's all the Muslim outrage about "Jewish Aggression!"... ... I knew right then that some serious crap that they weren't supposed to be doing was going on... And the Israelis went in and removed it from existence.

Of course it was rumored at the time to be nuclear related.

Well, it was. North Koreans helped Syria to build a nuclear reactor, which would lead to Syria being the next to develop nuclear weapons....

Israel said... "I don't think so... Kiss it bye bye..." and BOOM BOOM BOOM it disappeared. Just like Saddam's reactor in Iraq in 1981.

See, you gotta hand it to Israel in this regard: When they see a legitimate threat, they don't screw around. Unlike our country, we talk tough and go after the easy targets but when it comes to the real threats we waffle.

Then again, you could say we don't have to take it out if we knew the Israeli's would do it for us...

BEFORE......and After!

Notice how little coverage this got in the US press when it happened? Or that Syria was building a reactor? I'm sure our intelligence agencies knew about it... but did you see Bush or anyone coming out saying anything about it? Would we have attacked Syria? Why do I doubt it?

Thumbs up to Israel. A problem solved. I feel confident that if Iran starts getting close to nuclear weapons, they can expect a Care Package from Israel as well.

Unfortunately that just means more business for Russia.

Problem still not solved.

Look at it this way.

Iran has no nukes. The reason why is because Israel hasn't bombed them yet.

Israel, once again, has come to the defense of the free world against Islamic terrorism. Thank God we'll never have to know how many innocent lives were saved by their removal of this and the Osirak facility in the early 1980s.

I still want someone to explain the logic why isreal can have nukes and other can't? And you wonder why the other countries surrounding Isreal feel threatened.

By the way if Syria had bombed a Israeli nuke facility it would be considered terrorism. Funny how that works.

Only the US and Isreal are allowed to pre-emptively start wars. Wasn't ok for Hitler.

Re: Gotta hand it to Israel.... they don't screw around

Because of the Nuclear non-proliferation Treaty.

Course, it's been violated before.

However, personally, I feel that states that sponsor terrorism are better off without nuclear weapons, IMHO.

Notice, it didn't start a war, did it.

See here's the thing... when you're doing something you're not supposed to be doing, you can't come out and scream when someone takes it away from you. You have to pretend nothing happened.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that the Arab states that surround Israel started at least 3 major wars against that country in 1948, 1967 and 1973? Of course that doesn't count all of the terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians during that time.

Actually, it would be considered an act of war, not terrorism, because presumably, a nuclear weapons facility is a military and not a civilian target. But since when has Israel posed a nuclear threat to any country that is in its immediate vicinity? The only reason Syria would be interested in a nuclear program is so they can nuke Israel. It is perfectly justified for Israel to prevent its sworn enemies from developing technology that is capable of annihilating its population.

So now you're comparing the Israelis to Hitler? Come on. Is Israel going out and conquering new "living space" just to achieve some freakish dream of a new Aryan supremacist state? All of Israel's territorial gains were the result of victories over invading powers, and to the victor go the spoils.

And before you accuse me of being bigoted, my own family is a-rab, so that gives me an irrefutable and irrevocable right to trash the policies of other Arab countries.

This was actually covered quite thoroughly in the non-major media in the USA. And while I agree with you that Israel did the right thing (thank God) by taking out this facility, we all know the answer as to why Bush did not take action first.

The reason is because Bush has basically let the "American" left neuter him into inaction. He seems to be too preoccupied with trying to appease domestic opponents to his own policies to have done the right thing here. Thankfully, Israel stepped up to the plate. What I don't understand is, if the left would never support Bush anyway, why kowtow to them?

Re: Gotta hand it to Israel.... they don't screw around

It has little to do with the American left IMHO. Bush has shown no inkling of giving a damn about what the left thinks. He does however, care very much what American corporate interests think.

It has everything to do with talking big but mostly bluffing.

Personally, we should of taken out North Korea's nuclear program before they got nukes.... but see, that brings us to .... China. So nadda. (Both Clinton and Bush)

Syria, Iran... We'll talk tough, but we won't move. Luckily Israel will, however. Maybe we can sit back because we know they'll do it for us.

Still, we shouldn't let such threats slide. North Korea's being a real PITA with this nuclear crap, and that's not the Israeli's sphere of influence, it's ours.

But will we act?

I don't blame the left. The left does what the left has always done in these situations. I blame Bush for caving to the left.

I wouldn't "misunderestimate" Israel here either. Just because North Korea is thousands of miles away from Israel doesn't mean that Israel doesn't have the capability to deal with them. As you and I both know, Israel has a very long memory, and will, and has, literally gone to the ends of the earth to destroy those who would harm its people.

I think North Korea made a huge mistake by getting in bed with Syria. I believe it was our diplomatic lunacy that emboldened them. We owe the Israelis a lot if they step up and eliminated the threat from North Korea.
