Re: Authenticate at modem or router?

I didn't realize this forum existed. I've just recently become a verizon dsl (PPPoE) customer...

Personally, I'm authenticating PPPoE at my router. I bridged the modem/router I got from verizon and then set my Linksys WRVS4400N up to do the PPPoE authentication (username/password) and it all works fine. I switched over to the zoom 5615 modem (which is a "plain" modem by the way) to avoid any funny issues with the firewall still being enabled when in bridge mode (this occurs with some hardware when put into bridge mode).

Overall, it works well.
