anon : Note that Speakeasy doesn't offer an actual T1 but rather a 1.5Mbit Frame Relay. It acts a lot like a T1 having 1.54Mbits up and down, but the key difference is how it handles congestion. Make sure you know what you are buying.

T1 in MDU (Apartment)

tenex : Hello,

I currently operate a small business from my apartment. This apartment is in a pre-war building, so the facilities that are currently "pulled" to my floor consist of 3 wires. This effectively gives me one pair, which I'm certain isn't sufficient for T1. However, I see that Speakeasy has a great deal on T1 service, including free installation and free equipment.

When I had consumer DSL about 2 years ago from Verizon, they seemed unwilling to improve the facilities from my basement to this floor. Would the fact I'll be a T1 customer improve their outlook on return from me? I believe a T1 requires 2 pairs for an HDSL-provisioned loop. If it only requires 1 pair, I think we're in business.

Let me know what you experts think, if you don't mind ;)
