[SW Ontario] Cable TV Signal Degradation in Chatham...

Has anyone in the Chatham area recently experienced a degradation in the signal quality of their Cable TV, both analogue and digital? My internet and phone seems OK, but some channels on my TV(all three sets)have visibly reduced clarity and sharpness than before... Am I the only one who's noticed this?

Cheers!
Bruce

Have you reported this to Technical Support at Cogeco?

I try to avoid the analog channels, but I have noticed a lot more pixelation and freezing on the digital channels over the last few months.

Yes, I've reported it to tech support, and as usual they said there were "no problems". I know it's not on my end cause my cables and splitters were all replaced when they installed the digital phone. Even the line coming into the house from the pole was replaced. My Neighbour is reporting the same problem... It's almost as if one of their "boosters" has gone bad or something...

Provided you haven't done any rewiring or adding/changing of the cable equipment yourself (ie. extra splitters) and are therefore not causing the problem yourself, you need a service call. Sorry to say.

When the tech on the phone says there are "no problems" in the area only means that the current list of known network issues that they access doesn't show a problem in your area. Quite often it is by customers like yourself and your neighbour complaining of an issue that gets such a problem added to this list.

It may in fact only be both yourself and your neighbour that are having the problem in the area which would mean a very local piece of equipment needs adjusting or replacing. Or it is entirely possible that your issues could be completely unrelated. Until one or potentially both of you has a tech out to see you likely won't have the issue resolved.

Cheers.

Your best bet here is to get a tech out to look at your issues

It could quite possibly be related, but no one will know until someone comes out and takes a look.

As for it being one of our "Boosters" going bad, we call them line extenders, trunk amps, etc, I would doubt it as, someone would have most likely picked up on that, it is very rare for them to go and only affect tv quality

Issue has been resolved, thanks. Turns out it WAS on their side, though I don't know what exactly. My reception is clear, and all channels are now working fine. One of those technical quirks I guess...

Thanks!
