Bresnan DNS servers seem to have small cache and are slowFor quite a while now the Bresnan DNS servers for Helena, MT have seemed to be slow and possibly have a small cache. I would like to hear about everyone else's experience with Bresnan DNS. I became so dissatisfied with Bresnan DNS that I switched to non Bresnan DNS servers. The switch eliminated any DNS lag time, but mind you this is a minuscule time anyway so don't expect any miracles by switching your DNS servers. Just shows you how bad the Bresnan DNS was that I could notice the DNS latency. A proper ISP DNS server should have extremely low latency since it's on the same network as you and the server should have a nice large healthy cache thats regularly synchronized with DNS servers in other markets that an ISP serves.
The non Bresnan DNS servers I am now using: 208.67.222.222 OpenDNS 208.67.220.220 OpenDNS 4.2.2.1 Level3/Verizon? 4.2.2.2 Level3/Verizon? 4.2.2.3 Level3/Verizon? 192.168.1.1 my router
My OS is Debian/GNU Linux, Etch 4.0r3 and using a Linksys befSR41 V3 router with the internet DMZ to the Debian box. |
