| [VoiceStick] Number Port Complete
After worrying about Vonage (who I had ported my at&t number to a long time ago) and realizing that even on the $15/month plan, I was paying way too much per minute since I don't use the 500 minutes in the plan. I decided to port number elsewhere and after some experimentation with a few providers, I decided on Voicestick (not a new company, not a fly by night, etc.).
Just wanted to let people know it took less than a month and my local carrier is sending all calls to my port number to VS.
Pros:
1. Pretty fast overall. No problems. Faxed in the port request, proof it was my number, they took care of the rest.
Cons:
2. No email telling me it was complete. Found out because I tried to use my VS line and it was dead. Tried to log onto my account and couldn't. Switched to my ported number and I could log on. Changed my desktop adapter's account to my ported number and I was on line again.
Why do I like VS? Incoming calls work consistently which you can't say about all VOIP providers. All calls work, you never have to say I'll call you back and switch to another phone provider. Voice quality is clear and consistent.
How could they improve? A bit more communication would be nice. Like an email saying your port is complete, change your adapter (or software)'s account number to your ported number.
Nonetheless, I'm happy overall. I'd rather know what I'm spending on my VOIP rather than pay a flat fee to Vonage no matter how many minutes I use. |
