Re: Muslimism vs. other religions

how about when bush claims we're there to set up democracy but then go and cause even more chaos and destruction... that can't be a state dinner!

oh and btw, if the net were to be censored, we'd never see these attrocities from either side, and we'd simply be blissfully ignorant to anything outside our safe news shows. the very fact that we get to see these videos at all should be the argument against net-censorship for this entire news thread. we see it because the internet is the last totally free media outlets we have access to. i don't recall seeing at length anything 'too violent' on tv. we need to see it or no one will even begin to believe it's happening at all. we need to see what 'they' do and what 'we' do, no matter how good or evil we believe it is.

The democracy is trying to start. Who is stopping it? That's right. The radical muslim clerics because muslims do not believe in democracy or free speech when it comes to islam.

So you would let your kids see someone being beheaded on TV? That's why TV censors certain thing.

And I am all for censoring hate speech. Be it from the KKK, the Black Panthers, to radical islam. Groups like that need to eradicated. They have no redeeming value and their members are a waste of life.

thats a great, peaceful thing to say yourself. ...and you should be allowed to say it. except with censorship you wouldn't be allowed! you may not like what one has to say but if you want to be allowed to express your opinions, then you need to realize it's a basic right we all have.

Actually, I would be allowed to say it. Those groups declared war on other races and they opened the door to retaliation. Their views offer no redeeming value and therefore need to censored and controlled.

You also forget all the legal censorship. Not all speech is protected.

again you're walking a fine line here. perhaps not all speech is protected- that's one interpretation on the books anyway. and perhaps there is 'no redeeming value' but that's your opinion and it too would eventually be censored.

It is illegal to call for the overthrow of the government.

It is illegal to yell "fire" in a crowded theater.

Those are 2 examples of speech that is not allowed. That's the law. You don't have to like it, just accept it.

Funny how you defend one religion but rally against another.
