Zap2It problemsHey guys, About half the time I got to » www.zap2it.com for the TV schedule the page starts loading then it goes blank and a little window for scan.spywaredestructor .com (I inserted the space) takes over telling me my computer may be infected and do I want it to scan. You can't even close the tab (FF) unless you choose OK or Cancel. I choose cancel and the scan starts, only then can I kill it by closing the tab. It only happens at Zap2It so I'm thinking it's on the site itself, not my computer. I'm about to start some online scans to make sure. Can any one try and confirm what I'm experiencing please? |

I've noticed it for the last day or two.
Good old trackads.net still at it. |

I've experienced the same thing as well. Emailed Zap2it about the problem. Hopefully it will get fixed soon. |

It seems to be an intermittant problem - it was dead yesterday morning but fine after about 6pm then died again this morning. |

I had the same thing happen to me mid-afternoon today. I didn't want to click anywhere near the pop-up and it wouldn't close through right-clicking the tab on the Task Bar, so I did the CTRL-ALT-DEL that brought up the Task Manager and closed the program through that---the scan didn't start that way.
I was pretty amazed that it managed to shut down the open Web page. I ran a scan after I shut down the program and all appears to be well, but I'll be avoiding zap2it for awhile.
I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone in this problem. |

I have used Zap2it twice today with cache/cookies cleaned each time and haven't received a redirection yet! So, hopefully so! Nice going to Zap2It for responding quickly and thanks to everyone who participated in ending this! |

Thanks for alerting us SW! Seems like yet another great reason for keeping your hosts files up to date. |

Here's the reply from Zap2it concerning the email that I sent them on the 27th. quote: Hi ******,
Over the weekend, a company that supplied one of our ads switched out the approved ad banner with one that redirected users to a site for SpywareDestructor.
If you were affected by this ad, your browser window would have been reduced and you would have seen a screen that "scanned" your computer and told you that it was infected with several malicious programs. After that, it prompted you to download a program to remove the spyware and viruses.
The screen that "scanned" your computer was actually a flash animation -- it was fake. If you closed your browser window at this point, your computer is fine. If you downloaded the SpywareDestructor program, uninstall it via your Control Panel and remove the registry entry for "AntiSpywareDeluxe." (You can do this using SpyBot, »www.safer-networking.org ··· dex.html, which is a legitimate Spyware removal program.)
We were very disturbed by this ad switch, and pulled the campaign as soon as we realized what had happened. We are working to ensure that this does not happen again.
Thank you for your feedback!
