| said by eric87m :If you go back, enjoy the ultra compressed HD-Lite That typically applies only to the non-OTA HD sources (as Comcast does *not* compress OTA HD as they have no reason to). The biggest reason why compression happens (with any provider, be it satellite or cable) is last-mile bandwidth (which is the only reason why FiOS TV is immune, as their *last mile* (and the only non-fiber section) is entirely within the customer premises). However, isn't it also true that FiOS, in most areas, does not have the VOD content that the incumbent cable provider does? The one area that cable is maintaining an advantage over VZ is in terms of VOD, and they are working VERY hard to keep that advantage (contrariwise, what is VZ doing to eliminate it?) |
