Put DSL modem into bridge mode Use WPA security not WEP, WEP is useless now. Use a good strong Shared Key. Make sure your MTU is set at 1500. |

 | reply to Maxim303 Good morning Abounai, This is Cesar from Embarq Customer Support. If you are receiving our new modem 660 series there is no need to bridge the modem. The modem's default IP address is 192.168.2.1 and the Linksys router you are using has a default IP address of 192.168.1.1 so if you connect the modem to your router there will be no IP conflicts and it will work just fine as DHCP. I do have the same setup at my house with my 660 series modem and my Linksys router and I do not have any problems with the connection or playing online games We used to bridge our modems when we had the 645 series modem because it had the same IP address of the Linksys router. Please let me know if you have any further questions. | That part about not needing to bridge is very helpful, Cesar. That will save me a lot of time in the future, when I setup things for people. Thanks for that heads-up. |

| reply to Maxim303 IF you want to not bridge, be aware that there are some apps out there that don't like that too much, and you may want to port-forward all ports on the modem to the WAN IP address of your router. You can also think of this as putting the router's WAN IP address in the modem's DMZ. |

 | reply to Maxim303 Good morning, In the case you need to do port forwarding in the modem or the router, please follow these links:
