That's no problem.
What could be a problem is the NEXT time you paint. You will need to sand the entire surface with 150 grit or wash it with TSP so the new layer of paint will properly adhere to the oil-based layer.

You said that it would be ok to put oil paint over the latex primer right? Well I was wondering if the paint will peel or fall off when moisture gets to it.P.S. the area that we painted was the ceiling if that makes a difference.

yes it is OK, next time use vinyl wall paper.

You can put oil over latex, but you can't put latex over oil- so you are stuck with using oil from now on. Do not try to put latex over it, even with sanding, etc as mentioned above. Guaranteed to blister.
