It sounds to me the council has issues prioritizing too... I would expect this kind of a conflict to take front and center at a meeting.

I've been using it since before 1.0 days and have yet to find a distro (short of rolling my own with LFS) that easily allows me to do what I'm able to do with gentoo. Now of course this probably has to do with the fact that I've been using it for so long, but still. I've kept up-to-date VM's of SuSe and Ubuntu, however neither really pulls me in quite like Gentoo does.

That being said, I think if gentoo isn't able to get it's collective sh*t in order you'll probably see a fork happen soon before it's collapse.
