So I canceled dish after looking at direct and now the web site is down, does this happen on a regular basis, if so I'll go back to cable.

First time I have seen it down. I think I saw something about beta access to a newer online billing a few weeks ago. Maybe it is going active. There is a generic notice on the site now.

I would not call it down due to a problem.

"We're making improvements to make your on line experience better than ever. We'll be back up shortly."

Give them a little time. They are making improvements to the site. No reason to drop DirecTV because they are working on their web site.

[budbob] I would like another receiver for my shop so I can listen to the music channels and drink beer with the buds and band.

[dishtv]We show that that you have 4 connections and you will have to BUY an box.

[budbob] well direct tv will allow 6 and is 25 dollars cheaper than your service.

[dishtv we will give you $25 off the box (of course this will be washed with the $5/mo for the extra box)

[budbob] you have got to be kidding, you mean that I cannot hookup a box for my shop. Turn it off.

[dishtv supervisor] reiterated above dish response.

[budbob] Turn it off

Now I still can't order on line

My plan is to cancel Dish AFTER I've got DirecTV installed. I'd rather pay for overlapping service than risk not having service.

Finally got in and got my $18/mo for a web order and got an extra $12/mo for a year, plus I got a receiver for the man cave, and said they would be here Tue. I am now a happy camper.

When I looked, there was a $18 per month for a year on the programming plan. Is there an extra $12 a month deal you can tack on?

Well 5 years ago did it the other way around...called up DTV to cancel... and all of a sudden after many calls, they were very APPOLOGETIC AND WHAT CAN WE DO (even offering free equipment they wouldn't before)....

And my response was why weren't you like this WEEKS, and for WEEKS ago... at which point the CSR got the clue... DISH is the installing at the moment aren't they... and I said YUP sorry you were all such hard nosed morons for so long to make me do this... was without TV for maybe an hour tops in the late afternmoon when all there is to watch is nausiating talk? moron/divorce court and Dr Phil of himself type BS.

Plus I was beyond my commitment so no loss... just sianora suckas. (I guess at the time...2000/1?... they thought they were both just fighting cable not each other)

And at the time DISH was offering top 100 (now 200+ with the addition of Serius radio) for $10/mo for a YEAR, though with a bought DVR... the savings more than made up for cost of and is still DVR fee free to this day, and according to Charlie will be till it dies or SD service totally goes away or also goes to MPEG4, like HD did.

I had that as well when we moved and switched to DISH. After a week and to this day I get letters from DTV saying we want you back and all the deals they want to give me. On a limited time of course. I stayed with DISH because of the dual tuner receivers that save me $5 per additional TV. I will stay with DISH until U-Verse comes and I see what they have to offer price wise. All providers carry the channels I am interested in so price is what makes my dissension. I never had a service issue with either DTV or DISH.

The website was down only for a couple of days and that's the case with all the websites for maintenance purposes. This is the first time I have come across DirecTV's website being down. It doesn't eve matter to me so long as the TV signal is clear and I can watch NDTV 24x7 (Indian news channel). I had subscribed for DirecTV as it was the only provider of the channel. So, the website glitch doesn't deter me.
