| Windows XP wireless priority
I was wondering is there any way to get windows XP to prioritise wireless networks by signal strength instead of by a set order as have several network points set up in my building and different rooms have different strengths for each router and i want to have the best connection speed possible when i go into each room with my laptop? |

| irrespective of Microsoft, a WiFi client device should choose the strongest signal for the chosen SSID.
Not all vendors implement this correctly.
And there's no way with Microsoft's crap to force it to use a particular (MAC addresss) access point.
Other software that comes with some client devices does do so. |

Depending on your drivers you may be able to tweak your roaming settings for faster hand-offs. Personally I've found it most effective to position the laptop right under the AP you want for a few seconds (preferably after putting it in a lead box or rebooting it  ).

| I run a hotspot with a dozen APs. I try to position and space the APs to reduce needless roaming but I get some guest PCs that are just plain dumb. There's just no explaining it. They could be in the same room as the AP yet they flip-flop every other minute to another one on another floor that barely show up in a survey.
None of the laptops that I setup and manage do any of this weird roaming and since I'n not about to delve into these junk guest laptops I guess I'll never know why they act so dumb.

Solved the probem i found giving all the wireless points the same SSID they will pick the one with the strongest signal and connect to which ever that is.
