Maybe I'll ask around. But to who? I wish I could. </div>One thing that may be helping me is that I don't lash the line against hard items (fencing, rocks, concrete) that much.  When I trim I normally trim the grass back and am careful to avoid trimming excessively close to harder items which may chew through the line.  Maybe I'm too careful?<br><br>and to the others who've not replaced their spool yet... Damn you! lol jk Something must be wrong with mine or just something wrong with me. thanks.]]></description>

I considered switching to gas when I moved into a bigger property, but stuck with the cordless. Still using the same trimmer spool. I never cut anything other than grass.<br><br>I just added the cordless sweeper and between my B&D drill, trimmer and sweeper I now have 6 batteries and 3 chargers. I put 4 batteries on to charge the night before I landscape and always have enough power. Maybe 300 feet of trimming and sweeping after mowing.<br><br>The sweeper was on clearance last week at Home Depot locally for $50. Hard to beat that.<br><br>I highly recommend the B&D 18 volt cordless tools.]]></description>

I buy the 3-pack of trim line for $16/pack or so. No big deal, but I do go through at least a 3-pack every srping summer. I don't really keep count. I just replace them when they're gone. Could be more. Again, 2 yards being done during the season. <br><br>Maybe we abuse them by digging too much into the grass or something. I don't know. I would say I'm using it right, but hearing your experience, I MUST be doing something wrong. All I do is grass edges of the lawn, and a little straight line sidewalk edge trimming. <br><br>Either way, I do recommend the battery powered tools if your lawn is small enough.]]></description>

The battery lasted about 3 years and then needed to be replaced.  Less than 18 months later, that battery died.  At $40 a pop, I decided to go with a homelite gas trimmer.  Yeah, you have to deal with the gas/oil mix but it was more powerful and I could do my entire lawn's trimming (about an acre) without worrying about the battery dying.<br><br>I have a leafhog from B&D.  They do make pretty good stuff so if you need a cordless option, this is a possible consideration.]]></description>

But what is cool is I can use the lith batt for my other Ryobi tools. The Circular saw, sander,vacuum,drill, impact drill, flash light. The bad thing as of right now. I can't find just the battery on it's own. Homedepot online is OOS and none in stores. Ebay seems the way to go. ]]></description>

Each lawn tool comes with 2 batteries.<br><br>I always keep three fully charged and one in use.  When the batteries dies I charge the dead battery and rotate one of the fresh three into the tool in use.  <br><br>I also have near a 1/3 acre plot and normally can do all my trimming after 2+ mows without replacing the battery.]]></description>
