Re: AT&T raising Data Rates to compensate said by ArgyleDSL:I read somewhere that they may raise data rates to compensate for the lower phone price. Yes, they might do it. They might also impose a 5 GB cap on 3G data plans. I wonder what the current prices for the data plans are. One of my co-workers has a BlackJack which he got about a year ago and he says that he is paying $40 a month for 3G data. One of my friends got Motorola Q9 around the same time I got myself an iPhone (last December) and says that he's paying $20 a month for 3G (no SMS though). I'm paying $20 a month for EDGE on iPhone plus 200 SMS.
Funny thing is that you could have always gotten a current version of iPhone for $200 less. All you had to do is find a mom-and-pop store that resells AT&T and was offering them. The only catch was that a $200 discount would be added to the Early Termination Fee. I believe that if you buy an iPhone from Apple and activate it online or buy it from an official AT&T store, you would pay full retail price but ETF would be $125 and pro-rated. If you buy it from a mon-and-pop store, the ETF would be $325. Of course, if you are planning to stick with AT&T for these 2 years, why not get it from a reseller for less? -- Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies...
