I have a 2 wire 1000SW I think and it has been recomended that I replace it with a newer model Speedstream modem. I was thinking about picking up a used modem on ebay but Am not sure what model is best. |

| The motorola is still new, its gui is about the same as the speedstreams.
The speedstreams have been gone over with a fine tooth comb.
I think the 4100b is the best of the speedstreams, the 4100, 4100b are the same on the outside. Only the 4100b shipped with 1.0.0.63 software and its label has 4100b on it.

the 2wire is betor than the speedstream modem. if your gonna buy used I would get a 3346 or a 3347 if you need wireless on the modem.
Explanition.
Speedstream just a dumb modem.
2wire is a modem router combo. It has its faults but if you lock it down etc.. will be a good modem/router.
Netopia 3346 3347 is a full blown modem/router combo. with alot of Security and fetures. |
