Is it a higher current adapter than the previous one? Maybe the original one didn't provide enough power for the router.

The older Actiontecs had power supplies that failed leaving the customer without service. Verizon is trying to be proactive here, but this issue has been known for a while from the posts I have seen on here for those unfortunate customers.

I got this same exact thing a few months ago. My router was Rev A.

Search this site. There was a posting a while ago on this subject. Seems that early version of of the power supply had a problem. Verizon is proactively replacing them to avoid letting customers suffer the problem. I recall checking mine at the time and found that I already had the newer version power adapter. Sorry, but I do not recall the title of that posting.

Sorry for the repost.
I did a couple of searches, but apparently didn't use the right terms...

I just got one too! Actually I got one two days ago because my original one failed and I called to get a replacement. I was surprised to see the second one today with the letter.

I got one this week also, 3 months after mine died and I was told I would have to buy a new router for 139.00 as it was no longer under warranty. They could have at least shipped it with some KY or vaseline.

I find this kind of humorous! The letter says they are constantly looking to improve... How about starting with a better router!?!!? Or at least making the one we get not so picky.

The ActionTec is really the only MoCa router out there right now, and I'm sure Verizon doesn't want people to deal with NIM100s. There are some more MoCa routers coming out soon that Verizon may pick up and that may be better in quality as well. I think it was either Netgear or Belkin that was making one of them, not sure about Cisco/Linksys.

Netgear announced both a MOCA bridge (NIM) and a MOCA wireless-N router at CES back in January for delivery on first half 2008. Neither one has seen the light of day from Netgear and neither one has passed certification by MOCA.

The MOCA site lists a Linksys MEB200 MOCA bridge as having been certified, but a search on the Linksys site, did not bring up any information.

Well, I got about 10 days of use with the new power supply and now the POS router lan ports are all dead. Wireless works fine, any active port gets a continuous activity light (almost solid), can't ping the router from any lan port but was able to log in via the wireless port. Looks like the router is lan ports are fried.

Lucky I have an old Netgear 714 to hook up for now(8 years old and still working). Worst is that I'm out of warranty. I'm wondering if this is a coincidence that the lan ports died in less the a few weeks after putting in the new power supply.

I called verizon tech support but they were no help they tried to get me to sales, but they aren't there on Sundays. Boy these Actiontech routers are garbage, they should last much longer. Look I've got an 8 year old netgear that still works, I'd used it for 4 years, I've also got a linksys thats Ive used for 4 years so 1.5 years is just crap.
