Is it a higher current adapter than the previous one? Maybe the original one didn't provide enough power for the router.
The older Actiontecs had power supplies that failed leaving the customer without service. Verizon is trying to be proactive here, but this issue has been known for a while from the posts I have seen on here for those unfortunate customers.
