Notifications of replied to topics keep coming in through my IM. Even though I have the option turned off.
 None is selected...
 ...but I'm still getting them

| If you click the "CEASE" link in one of those system messages to stop the notifications, they should stop for that thread.
I've had this happen when, despite my setting for no notifications, there's some ongoing thread for which I apparently had asked for them. Newer threads seem to adhere to what setting I've chosen. -- Female monkeys often utter loud, distinctive calls before, during or after sex.. |

I tried that as well and they keep coming in. |

| The changes are NOT retroactive. I'm guessing that even though you have selected CEASE for that particular thread, other thread response notifications are still coming through. Unfortunately, I have never found any way, other than thread by thread, to discontinue notifications in any blanket way. It drove me nuts the one time I ran into it, until I finally figured it out. Fortunately for me, however, there were only a couple of response notifications involved.
The "Reply Notifications?" buttons on the bottom of the reply window override any other setting you have selected in "Forum preferences", and they remain in effect as the default until/unless you change them on your next, or subsequent replies/postings. As near as I can tell, the setting in "Forum preferences" really does nothing.
It seems awkward, I know, but if it were me (and it has been), I'd just keep clicking the link to CEASE getting response notifications... as you get them. Eventually everything should stop. -- If it's true that we learn from our mistakes, MENSA should honor me with their highest award! |

Any thoughts on why this would randomly happen? -- Photoshop these nuts in your mouth. |
