1 edit | NDA on age of conan lifted
EDIT: NDA is only off for fileplanet Beta, not general or technical beta
Quick tech issue solve as it will probably be common: The game does not support directx10 as of now. Go to the conan folder and run the simple config tool, select dx9 and make sure full screen is not checked. Launch the patcher.
--The patcher will not launch the game if full screen or dx10 is checked (in many instances), I was able to run in DX10 by clicking the exe seperate, but what will ahppen when the servers go live is unknown. |

Since there is no NDA on the Open Beta you are completely free to speak about your experiences in public, and you can also take screenshots and videos should you wish to. The NDA lifted only applies to the Open Beta also. Closed /Tech Beta are still under NDA. |

| Well, I'll start by adding my input.
First delay of five hours and now another of two hours before beta starts.
Thank god I didn't pre-order I feel another vanguard coming on. Sad, sad me, I still have my key from that game unused, who couldn't have had faith in the creator of the original EQ QQ -- The History Channel rocks! ... you know it! |

2 edits | I'm not worried about the delay.
It was to add an extra patch to improve the gaming experience and quality of gameplay. We wanted to add the extra update prior to launching the servers rather than to fix it shortly after the start of the Open Beta.
Users who have registered for the Open Beta will also receive an information e-mail about this in their inboxes shortly.
I still have my pre-order and intend on keeping it. The pre-order items and the 3 days head start will be priceless.
Here is what is in the email:
First of all, remember that you are playing a beta version of Age of Conan, where we on purpose are stressing our servers to simulate a hectic launch environment. This means that you may experience technical issues as you start playing.
Simulating launch is what final stress testing is all about, but we will monitor all of this closely to make your experience as good as possible.
So remember it's a beta and not the final product.
Also I remember some of the simplest patches in WoW crippled the servers for hours and hours. |

| reply to pp03 This is the email I received today. I was already in the Tech Test and got invited to the closed beta. quote: Dear Age of Conan Tech Tester,
First of all, we wish to thank you for participating in the Age of Conan Tech Test program. The Tech tests have worked tremendously well for us. We have learned and improved the game considerably based on your valuable efforts.
To show our appreciation for your time and dedication during these tests, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you into the Closed Beta for Age of Conan! This invite gives you unrestricted access to the entire splendor of Age of Conan, and we hope you will continue to test the game all the way until release. Seeing this is a closed beta you will get to test the latest and best of what we have, and you can expect to see many improvements in the next few weeks.
We will hold the Closed Beta NDA for everyone but journalists until launch, but you are allowed to openly communicate about your experiences up to level 13. We still have many additions and improvements to the game prior to launch, as you will surely see by playing in the next couple of weeks. Even the early experience will improve greatly in the upcoming period, so we urge you to speak about it in public should you wish to.

| JIGA, I don't know what exactly you found or if you just like the aspect of testing.
Maybe I'm too tired, I probably need to give it more time, on and on and on.
But I just played for ~30 minutes to an hour on and off and I'm not biting. It runs smooth on high, my system is pretty strong, but aside from that I just can't get into it.
Maybe the class I picked was just off, Necromancer. Randomly I had a guardian appearing, I had two pet a pet that I could summon but the combat is really clanky.
Do I just need to give it some time? What class should I play? I don't want to be a negative Nancy but I'm already ready to uninstall and glad I didn't pre-order. I have been up for just about 24 hours though, so I'll give it another shot with fresh breath tomorrow and read what you say if you have the time to reply -- The History Channel rocks! ... you know it! |

1 edit | I played a Necromancer in the PvP beta. I didn't really care for it to be honest. I guess it's hard to judge when you can only get so many levels. Btw, with the necro as you get higher , you'll have more and different pets. IIRC from the PvP beta you can summon up to 3 pets , and there is a different pet also.
I'd say if you aren't feeling it , try another class. I'm playing a Demonologist and loving it so far.
So far the graphics are just insane. I really like the way you can customize the Characters. I've also enjoyed the questing and leveling so far. |

| reply to pp03 I'm really into the style of the game and testing more than anything. On the Tech Test we were only allowed to test on X day and X time, so we were really limited.
I enjoy the ranged/melee classes myself... I was never really into the casting classes that much. Paper cloth armor doesn't attract to me
I do understand where you are coming from though. Even though you are in an Open Beta, (to test or to preview for you) it's still a beta. Also since Open Beta is limited to 13 levels it is only scratching the surface of the classes.
I myself haven't got very high either but I do love testing MMO's and watching them grow and get better. I still have not pre-ordered the game either and won't. Once the game is released and I feel it is polished enough I will purchase it. Till that time I try to send in as many bugs, glitches, exploits, that I can find. I'm not the type to give class tweak/nerf suggestions, really don't like giving input on that aspect.
Give it some more time to mature and try a different class, see how that goes for you. |
