Re: Port out a number with DSL on it

What if I'm under a two year contract for my DSL? I can't cancel for 19 more months.

Dropping the DSL when porting your number may not have to happen. I have recently seen orders come thru just dropping the dial tone and leaving the DSL in place, and changing the account number. YMMV.

Just to point out, that "price for life" does have fine print that if you alter or suspend services, it may cancel the contract and you may be charged. A few people on this forum were apparently caught off guard by not reading the brief fine print on this.

I'll have to re-read it, but I don't recall signing a contract for local phone service, only DSL.

There are a few here who have discovered changing their dialtone service changed their pricing.

I read the agreement, and it states that they may charge the standalone price, which makes sense. I knew I would lose the bundled price. It should not automatically break the contract resulting in an early termination fee. What Qwest actually does is anyones guess, they've never been known for trying to keep customers happy.

The problem with that though is that he would no longer have that number for his account, so he wouldn't be able to port it.
