Re: Port out a number with DSL on it

Hopefully I can get them to do it right. Our Muni provider has a local phone package with CallerID, Call Waiting, and Call Forwarding for $12.95 a month. That's just too good to pass up, especially in light of my recent 5 day Qwest outage that would have been 8 days if I hadn't been relentless in pressing them to fix it faster.

That sounds too good to be true, what does the price go up to after 3-6 months?

It does sound too good to be true. But note that it's LOCAL calls only, so you can only call one of the 7,000 or so people in our town. I only want it for incoming calls, I'm going to use VOIP for outgoing.

In the end I would save a whopping $4.04 per month. The catch is that they don't tell you about the extra fees, like the LNP fee to keep your Qwest phone number. I'll stick with Qwest, at least I know what to expect with them, and know that E911 will work if I ever need it.
