Just to point out, that "price for life" does have fine print that if you alter or suspend services, it may cancel the contract and you may be charged. A few people on this forum were apparently caught off guard by not reading the brief fine print on this.

I'll have to re-read it, but I don't recall signing a contract for local phone service, only DSL.

I read the agreement, and it states that they may charge the standalone price, which makes sense. I knew I would lose the bundled price. It should not automatically break the contract resulting in an early termination fee. What Qwest actually does is anyones guess, they've never been known for trying to keep customers happy.
