Well, where do i start?
I have been trying to get my Xbox 360 an open NAT for some time now, ive been stuck with strict for a long time now.
I got it resolved for a little bit and i got an open NAT, then it went away (i put my router in my modems DMZ). I have tried mostly everything in the modems settings, same with the routers settings.
Now i have set a static IP on the 360, it connects fine, i can join some internet games, but not all. I have forwarded the necassary ports in the router settings and i actually made from 1-3100 all free for the IP i gave my 360.
I have tried putting the 360 it in the DMZ many times. Nothing.
So one last idea i had. I will put my modem in FULL BRIDGE mode. When i do this, it says the modem page will be unaccessible until i reset modem to factory defaults. Only problem there is, will it delete my TSI username/password? If it does, i could go into my router settings and.. Use Dynamic PPPoE where i would put in my username/password, right? Is that still like a DHCP, where it gives every computer an IP, etc?
Sorry if i rambled or if i was unclear about anything.
Thanks. |

3 edits | The DHCP in your router settings means get its WAN IP via DHCP. The fact that it hands out DHCP leases to computers on your LAN is independent of the use of DHCP on the WAN interface. Setting your modem to bridge mode then entering your username and pass into the router is the recommended way of using a router. The reason is because of the exact problem you're having, double NAT.
So in short, go for it, your theory about how to do it is correct.
Also, ports aren't something that used in sequence counting from 1 or something. Every application has its own port to avoid conflicts. You need to forward the ports your game uses, I suggest Google. Depending on how the Xbox works (don't own one, Wii owner here) they may be the same or different for every game. DMZ is equivalent to forwarding every port (that is 1-65535). -- Taylor Byrnes www.taylorbyrnes.org |
