Re: New Tier?: Comcast HSI 768 Kbps tier, $25 + Free Install

This has been in place in some areas for a little while now. Obviously if you're a power user, downloading 4GB Fedora .iso files, you probably won't be happy with it, but for mom to check her email and maybe do some shopping at Amazon, it might be a good choice. Around here $24.95 is a bundle price though, available if you also have cable or CDV - it's likely to be slightly higher if you order it as a standalone product.

Its 40.00 without cable. Its the Economy tier. It is rarely advertised however.
I have seen people with the 6/384 tier and they only used it for email.
I mean they didnt even KNOW what the internet was. When I asked them to see if they could get online they opened outlook and checked email.
When I asked them to do a speed test they didnt know what I was talking about. I asked them to click the BIG BLUE "E". "I never knew what that was for?" "Now, what can I do here?"

It's possible that the ad was inserted by Comcast TV. I was not exactly watching KPDX on UHF 49. I was watching Comcast TV's Channel 3. It's KPDX programming, but Comcast inserts some of their own ads over the broadcaster's ads.

Perhaps the ad didn't mention a non-bundled $40 price because they knew viewers of that particular system-inserted ad already had Comcast TV.

When I checked last night, it was not an option offered by www.comcast.com -- but the ad did not say it would be, either.

Does anyone know what the upload rate is on that tier? Are there any other unique T&C's?

I had this tier (economy plan) before I switched over to verizon's 3M /768K plan for 27.99 priced for life, the economy plan here in Carroll County, MD. is/was 768K/384K for the price that you stated.

That's weird. YouTube video is rather low bandwidth stuff. It all got better when she upgraded?

Hmm...
I am in Northern Cali and just asked Comcast retention dept. They said it's $24.95 plus the basic cable TV ($12.21).

So, is it really $24.95 (incl basic cable TV) ? We need a poll from some folks who actually have this on their bill.

Oh, it's real. $24.95 as long as you have at least one other product. I can't vouch for bundles or that it's available in every single market, but it's really real around here anyway

Right, 2 products. Thanks. $24.95 + $12.21 it is then.

For a moment, I thought people were saying $24.95 total for both TV and Internet.

Thks for the clarification.
