| Need help upgrading modem firmware
Im trying to upgrade my firmware to be ready for adsl2 if i choose to upgrade. i have a 4200 right now with firmware # 004-D240-A3P.
I tried upgrading the firmware by installing the "broadband checkup center" after sitting through about 30 pop ups of having to hit "run" for active x controls, it went to installing java something and failed. I tried going directly through the link on the windstream site where it says "update your modem firmware", and it would get an error. I tried downloading the manual speedstream utility from windstream, it finds my modem, but asks for an activation key, and it says to call the help desk to get the activation key. I called the help desk and talked to india and they said no they dont have them you have to call the speedstream help desk, the guy gave me the number and i tried calling and it says "we are closed, we will open tomorrow". That was yesterday, and today it is the same message. Anyone got any ideas? |

| I had the same problem and never did get it resolved. What they did was send out a new modem with the updated firmware already installed.
Later on I did some checking around in my browser cache and found the correct modem update hdmupgrade.exe, the one asking for the activation key is for a 5200 not a 4200.
hdmupgrade.exe upgrades the modem to firmware 004-D241-A83 the same as the new modem they sent out to me.
If you would like a copy of the file let me know. |

| said by mojo1 :FWIW, I just updated my firmware at the broadband check up center. I tried this also, but it keeps telling me I need to use Microsoft IE web browser, which I am. I'm using Vista. |
