| this is insane; my beef
rogers is driving me "nuts" sort of speak; i, more and more feel like i am dealing with a communist internet provider. i keep researching data on the net( canadian especialy) with refferals to this present theft rogers and bell have been QUIETLY implementing for some time. and guess what; not much talk about this whole issues anywhere in the media!
the way i see it, only a small segment or IPS customers visit this forum(is there any other , canadian based, similar with this one!?).i mean when comparing to ALL customers with rogers and bell.not counting extended families , etc. so no matter how much fuss and observations/realization we make it does not matter to rogers! i keep running in countless number of people cluless of how internet works at all!( no pun intended but generaly they are older) the population as a WHOLE seems uneducated here and rogers and bell doing their BEST to keep it as such, by marketing schemes where they even have the odecity to change the meaning of "unlimited" to "limited" as example(small one actualy).
now i got involved with this whole neutrality issues, like many of you here have probably done that as well, already. but it seems it just does not have enough punch. emais to toronto star and globe and mail go un-noticed( my friends are involved in this as well but NO ANSWER or anything seen from the mainstream media yet!) we will keep trying and also make sure that will make life for rogers and bell as much unpleasent as possible as long as it is legal. including their own medicine of harrasing customers.(i know at least 2 cases where the individuals where still getting billed AFTER CANCELING SERVICES and returning modems. rogers kept asking for money becouse aparently they "forgat" to disconect it when requested. and guess what there is actualy no hope in this cases, either bad credit or pay whatever they WANT YOU TO!)
ok i do not intend to make this sound as a rant any further, probably did already, but we have reached the limit! service going down and prices up as hell. at least satisfy us with great quality service at least on par with europe or the states.AT LEAST. we are just going to twist the law as bell and rogers been doing for some time. cancel troger service? NO! not yet at least, we are not done here so far.i can not wait for the day rogers is canceling someone's that i know service based on DISCRIMINATION.they are an internet PROVIDER. deep search pockets!? inserting their own page!? extra charges !?( the ultra light service still pays 32% with tax and with TWO gb/month limit; just 5 years ago that was the PRICE FOR A QUIET GOOD INTERNET CONNECTION SUPERIOR TO ANYTHING ROGERS OFFERS THIS DAYS). they just getting MORE MONEY for LESS SERVICE.unaceptable! |

Rogers isn't doing their best to keep the general public clueless about how the internet works, people just don't give a shit. |

| reply to anon9037 Why dont you compare rogers to the other cable providers in canada. You'll find their pricing to be either a couple dollars more for faster service(mountain cable) or much less with a much higher bandwidth limit (videotron) or pretty much the same (shaw). Cable is traditionally more expensive then DSL only recently bell's pricing equals rogers because they feel they are delivering the same speeds(cough)
Yes your entire post is a rant, you came to no conclusion you didn't start with. Look around canada or ontario even. Their are competitive prices if thats what your after, its just not going to be a whole lot less or a whole lot better service in some cases. |

It amazes me how you can't call that collusion.
(yeah I know it's off topic) |

sbrook Premium,Mod join:2001-12-14 H0H 0H0 | Collusion is when the all agree to do it. They all do it quite independently. But it's all about "If they can get away with charging 112.9 then so can we." That's being competitive these days! |

| reply to anon9037 a twist on that gas line of thought... comparing cable to dsl is to compare gas to diesel but not going there.
With gas you CAN go across the street. with cable you can't. what im attempting to state is that people say rogers is a huge rip off, but compared to what? Compared to overseas where people live in massive bunches and it costs a fraction of the cost to run cable in canada. When you pretend you have the option of all the cable providers in canada its still not that much better or worse.
You have 4 options as i see it,
your local cable provider Bell DSL 3rd party DSL dial up
3rd party DSL has the best pricing with Mother bell in the drivers seat controling that service (cringe) |

WRT to Cable, right there are 2 providers (don't forget 3web), and a plethora of DSL providers |
