If possible, you could ask your neighbors to do a speed test and see what they are getting. If they are getting close to what you are, then the problem is up the line and Comcast is the only one that can fix it. Ask as many neighbors as possible, cause one might not be enough to get a good result.]]></description>

I was having exactly the same problem you are having. They had many techs out, Replaced all the RG6 and splitters, but could never get the problem fixed.<br>When Comcast took over I called them and told them the problem I was having.<br>They sent a tech out at 9AM, he looked at everything in my house and hookups and said the problem was somewhere else.<br>I didn't see the tech again until 4PM that day. He came back in, tested my speed and it was flying. When I asked what the problem was he said it was in the way I was being routed? I never asked him what he meant by that. All I know the problem was fixed and I have never had that problem again.<br>Maybe one of the Comcast techs on this forum could explain what the routing thing could be.<br>Just a thought.]]></description>

Either they have no noticeable* effect at all on the signal (as they should) or they make it worse.  If you can bypass that 2-way splitter altogether, then by all means do so. <description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/373749"><b>djdanska</b></A> : The one thing i noticed when i had comcast was if i started to have slow speeds or my pings got out of control, getting a new ip address sometimes fixed it. It most likely won't fix your issue but try going into your router and cloning the mac address of one of your desktops and see if a new ip block helps any. (and if one doesn't work, try another desktop). Just make sure you reboot your cable modem each time you do this.<br><br>About 25% of the time it did for me. I don't know why, but worth a shot. You could always hook up the modem directly to the computer too. But, i have not been paying any attention to your issue. You might have tried that already. <br><br>Just shouting ideas.<br><small>--<br>When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.</small>]]></description>

Tech also called in to check the modem numbers were in range and they/he said they were in normal <br><br>range. Tech did agree that my line speed was slower than most people on my tier, he agreed it was probably <br><br>an issue beyond my house, perhaps nod/router equipment owned by comcast?<br><br>The tech also tested my signal directly from the pole's line and they were good. He also tested my signal with <br><br>the 2-way splitter I have inside the house and test the signal as it went through the router, and all signals <br><br>were good he said. I asked if a new 2-way splitter would help and he said no, not based on the signal he <br><br>was reading.
