If they sync the same either should perform equivalently, but if you want to flash the speedtouch to an unlocked firmware (which does allow remote administration) then I have a guide and flashing pack to do so, if you're interested. PM me if you want the pack and I'll send it to you.

Actually, it's hard to tell at this point because some areas are already under the new system, which supposedly works much better than the old one. The true testament lies with your actual attainable download rate to the central office under the new system. Theoretically it should be 24 Mbps, but on average it should be around 12-15 Mbps, which is not that great if you think about it. I do not think you need to flash your modem unless you really have to. This is my current speed after convincing TELUS that a fraction of their equipment is malfunctioning: Download: 2710 Kbps Upload: 640 Kbps
