The WRT54G can only use one antenna at a time. So if you use a regular omnidirectional antenna on one antenna connection and a directional antenna on the other connection, only one of the antennas can work at any given time. So if you use your "local" antenna + directional antenna idea, think about how much traffic each antenna will have. If either your local or directional antenna will be in use quite a bit, I'd leave one antenna port unconnected and simply use the directional antenna. Buy an inexpensive access point for your "local" use. |
