3web Cable Slow Today?

Speedtest results in 1Mb down, Scarborough area.

Anyone else?

Sounds like what I used to get with 3web.

They're fine for the most part, it's just been the last few days that things've been... a tad hairy.

Surely it can't be attributed to the fact that many have just finished school....

I was about see if anyone had seen this problem too.
Yup the last couple of days things have been tanking bad.
Right now I'm getting 5mb used to get a FULL 7mb day or night

Yesterday afternoon I think I was getting 3mb.

Perhaps that "maintainence" they were doing earlier in the week did something. It's gotten worse this week.

I thought it was just my account.

I joined 3web 5 days ago and for the first 2 or 3 days the speed was awesome. I'm on the Silver package and I was getting 2mb downloads (twice the advertised speed).

The past 2 days my tested speed has been 1.5 mbps, but I can only download things at a max of 30 kbps... which is horrible.

A few question for long-time 3web users:

Do they throttle? If so, when and how bad?

Is YouTube throttled? I've been getting terrible speeds lately.

How's the service overall? The first 2 days I would rate it an A+, but the last 3 days have been a D-.

Okay, I'm getting 1.8 / 440 now.

Didn't know they were doing maintenance... where'd you see this? At the 3web account page thingy?

Cromsby: No, they don't throttle at all. Overall, I'd rate the service A- / A... I just wish the upload speeds were better.

@3web.net

That's awesome. I look forward to this "maintenance" being completed. I'm in Scarborough as well, btw.

Like I said, for the first 2 days the speeds were TWICE what I was getting with Rogers.

On the other hand, Rogers was ALWAYS consistent @ 1 mbps. I've found 3web to be all over the place and capping me @ 30 kbps for downloads the past few days (which really sucks hard).

It was so bad I had occasionally no bandwidth through 2 days.

Since nobody else in here reported it, I thought it was just affecting my street.

It's the same with me. I restarted my modem and it seemed to fix the issue with a new IP. So far there is been couple of time outs and rapidshare downloads are downloading at 35kb/s. It fairly sucks!

I had an IP but couldn't get on internet, when I called Tech support I got instead of the standard "There are no problems reported on the network", there was a message about maintenance

Ahh okay, I should really keep their tech-support number handy. Thanks.

I noticed my voice terminal receiving info the other night, maybe they are working on networks or something?

I have noticed over the past couple of weeks that I no longer get my 9500+ D/L speeds I was consistantly getting, now it seems like this is the best I can do?

Maybe heavier network load, or 'cause students are home etc???

Seems like during midnight / noon hours, the speeds are fine.

As far as gaming is concerned, my pings have remained the same; unsure about the random mild packet-loss though, as it could also be the server I normally play at.

Whatever they were maintaining seems to be done.
Things are back to normal with a free and clear 7mb at 8:15 at night.. a first in almost a week

I don't get it.

Why would you pay $20/month for 1 or 2mb when you can get 7mb for 33?
