Re: DOCSIS 3 in Albuquerque, NM ZIP 87107. w00t lol

Could you post a test result with your new DOCSIS 3.0 connection, using a server somewhere farther away, like maybe Los Angeles? The one you linked looks like you were pinging a server on Comcast's network in town. While the increase in maximum speed is nice, I'm more interested in whether DOCSIS 3.0 will lower latency as well.

Re: Is the DOCSIS 3 rollout complete in your area? Post here.

@ WH4K, I doubt it will take 4-5 years for you to get upgraded as I heard the NM area is only going to take 3-6 months to complete the change to D3. I wonder if there were any other zip codes in the ABQ area that got D3 recently? Oh by the way, if/when you do get D3, be prepared to lose your net for a while, mine was down several hours before I gave up and went to bed, lol. But thankfully it was very late, like around midnight Im guessing and it still was not up at 2am.

Here's another speedtest 24 hours later, again identical to yesterdays tests. Can pings get any better than that?

Just in case your interested, again this is for zip code 87107, at the 3400 block of Comanche Rd, Albuquerque NM.
Downstream Channels I now have are as follows:
Channel ID: 218, 217, 219,220
Frequency: 693 Hz, 687 Hz, 699 Hz, 705 Hz
Signal to Noise: 35 dB, 35 dB, 35 dB, 35 dB
Modulation: QAM256, QAM256, QAM256, QAM256
Power Level: -11 dBmV, -12 dBmV, -12 dBmV, -12 dBmV

Kudos to New Mexico...you have the Detroit (and most of Michigan) area beat now!!

Don't feel bad jblues... I got docsis 3.0 in Macomb a few weeks ago (I posted here when it happened). But as of today Comcast still will not let me order a docsis 3.0 package, they keep telling me that my area is not serviced, despite the fact that I know it is....

This is super frustrating! I just spent 2 weeks trying to upgrade my business from Preferred (16/2) to Deluxe (50/10). Only to have the girl at Comcast email me a new business agreement for 'Starter' Internet. So I sent back an email saying I wasn't DOWNGRADING I wanted to get docsis 3... to which she said I didn't have it.

I hate you Comcast.

No such luck in 87120. But then, westside ABQ always gets left out of all the cool stuff. We couldn't get DSL faster than a pathetic 1.5 Mbit (with huge latency) until a few months ago. That's several years after Qwest started pimping 10+ Mbit DSL in other parts of ABQ.

So, maybe we'll get DOCSIS 3.0 on the left side of the Rio Grande in another 4-5 years.

(FWIW, I just rebooted my SB6120 to check. Nope, still green lights and a single channel.)

Thank you but I figured the bigger Cities would still have better service, lol, no? Maybe its the smaller Cities with less overhead (as is customers) that gets the better results, but just gets upgraded later? Qwest DSL also got upgraded to an advertised 40 Mbps service several months ago, so maybe this is Comcast's "Take That" statement to them. I was even thinking of leaving them for Qwest, but I had/have a feeling Im in a good area for D3, so I decided NOT to make the move.

Well see how this pans out over the next few months.

DOCSIS 3 in Albuquerque, NM ZIP 87107. w00t lol

Looks like Albuquerque NM got DOCSIS 3 today.

Last night my service was down which is rare so it prompted me to call in, and when I did they told me my area was scheduled to go down for an upgrade that was occurring. When I awoke this morning I noticed my web pages loading like on some performance enhancing drug, so I did a stupid speed test and got a result that almost made me swallow my tongue (3 times better than any other test I have ever had)..

Anyway my SB6120 receive light turned blue and it now shows inside the modems FW four channels 217, 218, 219 and 220. According to a member here this means I now have D3 in my area. He mentioned it may still be a few months away from being complete though, and that I may not be offered any higher tier levels until then. As far as I know Im on Blast, or 16/2. They are charging me 52.95 a mo, so not sure what that price range is officially considered, Blast???.

Net Meter shows a burst of "nearly" 10 MiB/s dropping to 3 MiB/s after just a few seconds and an average of 4.5. And, Comcast's own speed test shows the below result over and over no matter what server I select in the US.

»results.speedtest.comcast.net/re···7432.png

I assume this means its "almost" time to put my City on the D3 list?...

I didnt realize they had you down that low in some places. I'm at 15/2 and its pretty decent. I could use more but I'm not dieing here.

I think you mean 16/2, but yeah, I'm not dying either but it would be nice to have. The aggravating thing is that 80% of the Comcast customer base is getting more value for their money than we are and it's been going on for multiple years now.

What exactly is mediocre now? You can get a connection many times a t1 these days for a fraction of the cost from comcast right now, without docsis 3. What do you guys do that needs so much bandwidth?

I'd call sitting at 8/2 for years while everyone else is getting all the love, mediocre. And as for bandwidth uses, for me, it's all about time. I want what I want right now with a minimum of waiting. Why wait 10 hours when it can be done in an hour or less.

I want Netflix to maintain an HD stream and not pitch a bitch just because I'm surfing web pages and not letting it have my entire connection.

That's what I'd use Docsis 3's bandwidth for.

That time has now come and gone while our business has to sit idle on a mediocre comcast internet connection. This is absolutely unnaceptable.

I feel the same as I run a small business out of my home that could use the extra speed the D3 upgrade would provide.

We have no choices here in Allen Park, though. WOW and U-Verse aren't any better (and FIOS isn't anywhere close to coming here...)

Comcast just told me they hope to have the upgrade complete by the end of the year. I for one and getting sick and tired of the runaround I get each and every time I speak with a comcast representative. When we signed up for the business class service our rep told us at the LATEST it would be the end of the first calendar quarter in 2011. That time has now come and gone while our business has to sit idle on a mediocre comcast internet connection. This is absolutely unnaceptable.

I spoke with a Comcast business rep a few days ago who mentioned that DOCSIS 3 is coming to my neighborhood (Macomb, MI 48042) sometime in May.

DOCSIS 3 Available in Lake Jackson, TX

Last weekend the network went down, and came back 4 downstream bonded channels. Still only 1 channel upstream.

Monday they let me have Extreme 50.

Re: Is the DOCSIS 3 rollout complete in your area? Post here.

I don't show any sign that the channel bonding ever happened to my SB 6120 in Allen Park. The logs show it was up steady while I was gone on the one channel it gets. I show no signs of rebooting or channel bonding...sad, I know.
