said by mnmark :I successfully ordered by 22/5 service yesterday, for the Twin Cities market (I'm in Saint Paul proper, 1mi from their HQ). What appears to have come out today: DOCSIS 3 modems are not available at the service centers. I was told that yesterday when I stopped in to pick mine up (sales indicated that yesterday when I upgraded service), and when I called to talk to them today, they confirmed that an internal email has went out, stating that the upgrades in my area require a tech come out, and that the modem wasn't available for customer install. That should, however, change in a few weeks. They did want to charge for a truck roll, but when I told them I wanted to install myself and would if I had the option, they waived the fee. I'm in St. Paul as well. I currently have 6/1. I wonder if I've been upgraded to 12/2. -- »Celestia-this is a REALLY COOL program!!! |

1 edit | OMG!!! I just powercycled my modem and got over 6500kbps on an upload test!!! Normally, I never get above 2000kbs!!! What's strange is that I didn't get above 6000kbps for download and I normally get around 9000kbps. that was at speedtest.net. I just went to speakeasy and got better on the download and over 8000kbps on the upload!!! WOW!!! -- »Celestia-this is a REALLY COOL program!!! |

Comcast Rolls out DOCSIS 3.0, Offers 50 Mbps to Premium Subscribers
The deployment starts with a handful of markets New England, Philadelphia, and New Jersey but should be available in the top 10 markets nationwide by the end of the year.

said by anon009 :said by CCmike :On the business side the following upgrades will be made. 6/1 customer will go to a 12/2 16/2 customer will stay the same there will be new packages with 3 bandwidth options. they are as follows Starter 12/2 (Up to 15/3 with PowerBoost) - $59.95 Premium 22/5 (Up to 20/4 with PowerBoost) - $99.95 Deluxe 50/5 - $189.95 the time line for the new packages have not been announced as of yet. I would imagine it will not be long. As for all things that are in pre-release, this above info is subject to change and not available in all areas. $100 bucks for 22/5? that's a rip. Thats for a business account, with no caps, exchange, and some other tools. The residental 22/5 is $62.95 w/ a 250GB cap. |

1 edit | reply to I pos rep said by I pos rep :said by Der_Idiot :Just to confirm everyone's questions, NO. There is NO cap on commercial accounts. Also, I've reset my modem and I'm getting my 50/10 connection I'm tempted to test this out as I remember Jason or some dude from the Comcast site came once over here when they were going to implement the new queue system and said business accounts were subject to throttling and caps. How much would a business 22/5Mbps cost me a month? I'm thinking of going business on it for one month or so and just burning over 900GB a month to test this but I think some post here said it was $100 a month which is a bit steep just to try this out. For all those who say there are no caps how far have you pushed it? Anything less than 300GB and you have absolutely not tested it. One thing is what they "claim" which is usually false like them never admitting there were caps when they were indeed there. Next the denial of crapping on P2P which was also there. Can never trust Comcast. The 22/5 is $99.99/month, and I have done 375GB+ for the last 6 months on my 16/2 business account and not a word from Comcast.
I would be careful about getting the connection with the intention to drop it as there is a 1,2 and 3 year contract sign up. One year gets you the lower price ($99.99, but you have to pay the install fee. 2 & 3 years gets you waived install and the lower price $99.99). You can get out of contract connections, but you pay a higher price, probably about $169.99 for the 22/5 and you have to pay the install fee. -- Duct tape is like The Force it has a light side and a dark side, and it binds the Universe together |

| reply to sortofageek What is going on in the Chicago area?
Last weekend starting around early Friday I had connection problems(all signals etc were still great). Had speeds all over the place. Sunday afternoon I'm up and running with ridiculous new great speeds(30Mbps/6-7Mbps with boost) on the 6/1Mbps plan. Today My down speeds are half and refuse to go over 16Mbps as of about an hour ago. My upload is still somewhat around the same range. Are we getting upgraded to the new speeds? I remember there being a 15Mbps cap for it announced by Karl about a day ago as to not go above the next packages speed.
Seriously Comcast, either give me the damn new speeds or stop screwing with me in Chicago. |
